Unwritten Stories: Gale Meadows
Look, I'm really sorry you have to know this about me...
This would have been my longest journey, and much like the song by the same title, it needed to end like freaking half way though.
Ya’ll not gonna be too surprised by this, but I’m a bit of a nerd, just without the glasses, braces or the pocket protector. I’m also rather athletic, when I’m in shape (I also recognize round as a shape, but you won’t see me running at that size.) As it comes with the territory I’m one of ‘those’ nerds. No, not the reading dirty smutfics during math class type, no... I was the nerd writing the fan fictions that geeks were getting off to during bathroom breaks!
Alright, I’m neither of them, but I liked My Little Pony, and I’m a writer so I’m bound to make a fan fiction from time to time –BUT NOT JUST ANY FAN FICTION! Honestly, I could just erase the pastel colour pallet and call this story an original work. Really. The idea was that the world was set in one of the old Generations, like G2, coz it was my favourite (Fight me) and I sucked at making fan fictions so it was pretty much it’s own universe, and no bearable quality of the franchise I swore it to be based off of. So, you may be asking, is it actually a fan fiction? No, but I’m not giving you the script to find out for yourself.
Outline, Young filly, Petal Breeze is lost in the woods, finds a real life actual tar dripping monster from one’s nightmares, but is saved by a unicorn... No one believes her, of course, but she knows what she saw. Years go by, and she hasn’t grown up a whole lot for getting lot older, and there is a great snowfall that lasts forever. One night, it disappears over night, WOW, magic right? Yup, gotta be. Petal Breeze leaves to find the man who saved her, and thank him. Thing is, no one ever seen a unicorn, --and if you bring up that movie bro, I’m gonna deny it!
People looking after unicorns are called wish chasers, and are treated as the lowest level of debil (that’s Russian for ‘idiot’ btw) on the face of the planet. She just carries on and let’s the wind guide her. She runs into a lot of trouble along the way, locals giving her a hard time, some times less locals, as she goes across the land. She finds places called Glades, where the earth is peaceful and the plants flourish (more on this later). One day she senses something, and follows it to the source. Then, before her, an actual unicorn. She tried to return her gratitude but he doesn’t remember her and is a complete jerk.
Petal Breeze runs low on money and takes on a job to pay her way back home, defeated. She becomes good friends with the shop owner and tells her story about the unicorn she failed to thank. One night, Petal Breeze wakes up, and feels something incredibly important, unmistakable. She know’s it’s him, and chases off into the woods finding her hero, talking to a living tree. He runs away but she can still sense him and tracks him down long enough to thank him but she sees the weary tears in his eyes like he seen a ghost. She leaves, having fulfilled her quest but can’t shake the sorrow she saw in him.
Got two more pages of this so hold tight, and I’ll speed through this best I can... After returning home, the winter takes her ill mother and Petal Breeze isn’t left with much home to call her own. Having experience travelling, she heads out to find the place she will settle in. She feels the presence of something strange and follows after it, finding another monster being battled by the unicorn who’s name is Star Trail. She tried to talk to him, but he wouldn’t let her and he leaves again, more frustrated to have seen her a second time. She is greeted by the tiny twiggy growth of another nature spirit who crawls out from it’s Glade where the monster had been vanquished, springing life around it’s feet. It informs her that He is very troubled, and asks Petal Breeze to check on Star Trail, his old friend as it recovers.
She passes deserts, and gets heatstroke. She wakes up next to a gruff old bastard who talks none to friendly, and tries to make some advances on her as they travel. When he heads out for a leak, she switches their bread and he poisons himself into a deep sleep. She gains some distance before he wakes up and makes it to a work camp. They try to help hide her from the man but she catches on that they work with him and escapes under pursuit. Her ability to sense things grows, and guides everyone towards a huge sand creature that chases the rest away while she runs for her life. She makes it to the mountain city where Star Trail is and tracks him down.
He gives up and informs Petal Breeze that she looks like one of his past lovers, one he loved very dearly, and watched die of old age. He has outlived all of his friends, and everyone he ever loved, to be lonely once again and has given up on attachments. He is astonished by her innate ability to sense magic and decides to spend the festival there to relive the past with her. Please bare with me, even I see how much of a soap opera this is.
Petal Breeze senses something up the hills, and Star Trail does too. He arrives to find the other unicorns corrupt the nature spirit into something horrifying, like what she seen before... Prepare for some Princess Mononoke level shit, coz bich, it incoming... And they bind the spirit to perform a ritual upon it. It fails, and the spirit dies. The others mock the deficient Star Trail and leave. He was one of the last of his lineage, before the magic left, while they were of pure blood. Petal Breeze asks why they did that to the poor creature and Star Trail tells the story of the First Unicorn.
The First unicorn was a mortal, that in the time of great calamity, had inherited the powers of the dying spirit king and live on the legacy. The power manifested into his horn, and acted as a conduit to make dreams a reality. He became immortal, and bred over a hundred children who’s power was weaker than his, and was revered as the strongest force imaginable. Over time, he corrupted, until his order sealed him away, and the unicorns ceased, dwindled in strength until only the pure bloods remained, and those who were on their way out. The pure bloods who corrupted the nature spirit, were trying to create a monster; something strong enough and powerful enough to withstand the reincarnation of their founder, but nothing ever could. They went from power to power, looking for anything that could bring him back to life but his strength was too much for anything to withstand and so the spirits were turned to monsters. If weak enough, discarded and left to wander without any concern for what they would do. The reason they did all of this, was to restore the linage, before the unicorns became truly forgotten, forever, and lost to time.
I’m too lazy to write how they got together but Petal Breeze convinces Star Trail to let her travel with him, so she can get him to open up to the world again. He teaches her how to open her eyes to the world around her, and use her gift.
This is roughly where I stopped writing the physical copy... Yes, there is a document on my computer with over 400 pages of content, enough to make Nephesh in it’s current state look like a novella... And I would have kept going too...
The plan was to take the adventure through a whole bunch of superimposed story arcs, and end up at a Desu Ex Machina situation, like all my stories at the time. The acted portion, doubled the written content, and continues as such... Don’t think too heavily into that statement.
Gang discovers wild monster left to roam and get stronger, long double hunt dynamic. Discover old under water temple of old king that went mad, no memory of what it purposed.
Petal Breeze would meet a captive lady of the street name Amaryllis, work name Belladonna, break her out of there to see the real world. She would fall in love with Petal Breeze, in a comedic one sided attraction and steal her first kiss in front of Star Trail, who was getting to have a romantic interest with Petal Breeze, because... I don’t know, I was in highschool, I lived on this level of cringe --And don’t you laugh quite yet, because someone else actually enjoyed reading this mess!
Some big event was gonna happen, driving Petal Breeze and Star Trail to the ocean where there was a massive spirit that was being corrupted, and every spirit mourned. Star Trail finally learned to Manna Vault, and become powerful enough to be a serious threat. If you’re unlucky, you’ll get to find out what that is. They get shipwrecked on an ancient ruin, until finding the teleporter room and an atlas of the world with a whole ‘nother continent. See, society was advanced long ago, and then something happened that I never developed. I have no further answers for you.
They travel to the new(old) land and meet the next in line for the spirits new king, and get told a whole bunch of important information. What was it? Nobody knows! Really! I can’t remember.
Meet pagasis, because of course that had to be in here. The pagasis is a proud nationalist that lives in the north mountains, but then so is every pegasi in this story. Eventually Petal Breeze diplomatically convinces the warlike queen to peace, which was going to be a running trend on her path to magnus opus. Le diplomat. It was supposed to happen earlier, but I never did really account for the ‘free will’ counter argument.
One day Petal Breeze was going to become very ill, and see the other side because of a poison that infects her. She would come to live, becoming even stronger and now see the spirit realm in her roster of paganistic superpowers.
The unicorns would eventually unleash their king, the first unicorn, and he would be weak.
Eventually makes it to the other continent, to find the next in line and absorb it’s power.
Star Trail is no match, and ends up fatally wounded.
Petal Breeze absorbs the power of a unicorn, becoming one herself, with Star Trail’s spirit dwelling within her; thus becoming the most powerfully unending being the world had ever seen since the first one. She is angered but isn’t strong enough to defeat the monster that the first unicorn became, and never had the heart to hurt or kill. She reevaluates herself, takes a Tai Chi Method of approach and uses the power’s she’s obtained over the last ‘too effing many chapters’ to: Tap into the world’s energy, absorb all the discourse and sadness in the world, forgiving them, and converting it into love. With this strength, she could absorb even main villain’s power and purify it, thus rendering him mortal and unable to fight.
She’d then go to live on alone, with Star Trail inside her, and give out wisdom to whoever found her.
There was also a plan for the ‘Son of Petal Breeze’ No-Go-boruto-han-ten-pan style, but I was just grasping for content rather than making it, because that didn’t need to be made.
And so it wasn’t.
